CFS stands for "continuous feed system," and CIS stands for "continuous inking systems". The idea behind using these CFS/CIS systems is that they continuously refill the small cartridges that are being used in the printer. As the printer prints, the
ink that is used in the small installed cartridges is replaced by the ink in the large storage bottles of the CFS/CIS systems.
Profiling, when referring to printing and
printer ink, refers to the calibrating of a computer, printer and scanner to a standard and easily recognizable color setup. Standards are set by the
International Color Consortium (ICC). The reason we profile printers is to produce a consistent output of color.
