Wifi Printing Now Available For Under $100

11. May 2010 10:02 by Danielle Bernhard in clickinks, cheap ink, wireless printing, epson printer  //  Tags:   //   Comments (0)

Whoever first decided to incorporate Wifi connectivity into printers was onto a good thing. The technology enables multiple people to share the printer without complex networking. It's also perfect for notebook owners who can print without getting manacled by USB cables. The only downside to date has been the cost: consumers interested in printer portability had to spend more than $100 for the privilege.

Fortunately, now Epson has corrected this oversight by releasing the NX420: the first ever printer incorporating 802.11n Wifi available for $99.99. The printer also includes Scan and Copy functions, and special features such as Automatic Photo Correction and Red Eye Removal. Perhaps best of all, Epson promises the NX420 will take ink cartridges costing as little as $8.99. In other words, wireless printing suddenly became much more affordable.

The new printer isn't presently in stock at the Epson store. As soon as it becomes available though, expect to find compatible ink cartridges available at discount prices from Clickinks.com.

Looking For A New Printer? Consider The Lexmark Pinnacle

People looking to upgrade their printer may find the Lexmark Pinnacle an excellent choice. The printer made waves when Lexmark revealed its ink cartridges cost only $4.99 while printing five hundred pages. In addition, Lexmark offer one of the industry’s longest warranties for the printer: five years. Also, the printer boasts the unique SmartSolutions interface. This enables people to complete any function with a single touch – great for productivity.

Now the Lexmark Pinnacle has received industry recognition for these great features. Last week the printer was awarded a 2010 Hot Tech Demo Award at the Fifth Annual Small Business Summit. The Lexmark Pinnacle was one of only 6 products to be recognized. Editor of Smallbusinesstechnology.com Ramon Ray commented: “It’s refreshing to see Lexmark’s Pinnacle – a real AIO tool with Web solutions that add a much-desired layer of simplicity to business processes."

The Pinnacle might therefore be in the front running when you upgrade your printer!

HP Printer Ink More Costly Than Human Blood

Are you sick to death of the outrageous prices HP charge for their original black ink cartridges? You might avoid paying through the nose by purchasing from a remanufactured ink vendor. Or, if you’re hopelessly attached to the contents of the wallet, you might print documents with your own blood.

This, according to a bar chart created by Clementine at ReflectionOf.Me, is almost half the price of HP black ink # 45. All you need is an emptied ink cartridge and a blood donor pack. That woozy sensation you’re feeling as you fill the cartridge? That, dear reader, is what saving feels like - glorious, glorious savings.

Looking for details before you undertake this (admittedly drastic) procedure? HP’s black ink retails for $0.70 per mL, as opposed to $0.40 per mL for human blood. Need some liquid courage before you start? That’s no problem, because according to the bar chart, vodka retails for almost nothing. And if the whole thing goes wrong and you find yourself in the hospital – that’s okay too, because penicillin is only $0.05 per mL.

So get printing – and who knows? Before long HP might unveil its new ‘Vampire’ series.

Reduce the cost of printing - Paper Saving Tips

Paper Saving Tips
  • Print on Both Sides: Whether you are printing or making copies, you can cut your paper (& paper costs) usage in half by simply selecting to print on both sides. Some printers offer a “duplex” feature, even if yours does not you can simply print your odd numbered pages first (beginning with your first page), then flip around the pages and print the even pages on the other side (beginning with page 2).
  • Print two pages on each side: Another money saving feature that you can select is to print columns. No matter what type of printer you have, Microsoft Word has this print option. If printing from another program, you can simply reduce the size of your images or font, allowing you to fit more on each page.
  • Also, when you are printing, or receiving paper that is one sided, you can reuse the other side so that there is not as much waste.
  • Think before you buy. You can save money by purchasing your paper in bulk. Purchasing bulk paper and bulk ink ahead of time will also limit last minute purchases where you will settle for any price. Recycled paper, which can be purchased in the same price range as non-recycled paper, is also a great solution for our environment.
These tips will not only save you money, but also reduce the deforestation and piling up of landfills.

Problems with a compatible cartridge?

24. April 2009 07:03 by Danielle Bernhard in clickinks, epson ink, cheap ink, compatible ink  //  Tags:   //   Comments (0)
Since the new "chipped" Epson cartridges have come out, we have received this question a few times. Not to worry, it is an easy fix and you will be able to continue using ther lower priced compatible cartridges!

There are usually only three reasons that this question is asked:-

The transport tab has not been removed. This is by far the most common reason and is very easy to resolve.
  • Remove the cartridge
  • Remove the transport tab
  • Return the cartridge to the printer but
  • Wait at least one hour before printing (preferably 24)

The printer is reporting an error (with lights on the printer or a message on screen). The error / message should tell you what the fault is and usually how to correct it. If there is an error light on the printer but no message on the screen, you may need to reinstall the "Epson Status Monitor" to see the what the error message is (refer to your Epson manual / CD). Messages may include

  • "The installed ink cartridges differ from the original EPSON ink cartridges for this printer... ...You printouts may be different from those printed using the origional EPSON cartridges. Do you want to continue using the currently installed ink cartridges?" or similar message. Depending on the compatible cartridges, the printouts will usually not differ so simply reply "YES" to this message. Printing will continue as normal.
  • Communication Error: This is usually down to the print cable not being plugged in but may also be down to hardware problems. This is never due to cartridge problems.
  • Print cartridge not recognized: This can sometimes be resolved by removing the cartridge from the printer and carefully cleaning the chip on the cartridge. Simply lick a piece of tissue and gently rub it on the chip. Ensure the chip is dry and return the cartridge to the printer. If the error persists, it may be worth tring another cartridge. If more than three cartridge report this error then it may be a hardware fault occasionaly experienced with Epson printers.

The cartridge has an air lock - The printhead is moving backwards and forwards accross the page but little or no ink os being delivered.

  • First check the transport tab - refer to "The transport tab has not been removed" above, otherwise R
  • Remove the cartridge from the printer
  • Hold the cartridge in the orientation it sits in the printer
  • Give the cartridge a firm but sharp tap, down on a protected solid surface
  • Return the cartridge to the printer but
  • Wait at least one hour before printing (preferably 24)

Problems like this are rare, and are limited to the newer Epson printers. Be assured, you can always purchase lower priced, quality ink cartridges with ClickInks.com and we guarantee your satisfaction!
